CINETECHGEAR / UPDATED GUIDE

Why MiniCine started small

Originally published · Revised

MiniCine began with a practical frustration: a lighting kit could be too large, too power-hungry, too expensive, or too limited for the job. The aim was a compact fixture that could earn its place in a small studio, travel kit, or close working space.

Build the fixture around useful choices.

The design grew through repeated prototypes, with attention to the body, ventilation, cable arrangement, mounting, and modifiers. A light for one job could become a family of options: doors to control spill, an eggcrate for direction, diffusion for a different treatment, and supports that fit familiar equipment.

Small runs make room for ideas.

3D printing made it practical to revise individual pieces and develop accessories without creating an injection mold for each variation. That is still part of CTG’s approach: make the part that solves the problem, and keep improving how it works.

The current MiniCine family.

Creator Edition now uses a 3000 / 4000 / 5000 K switchable bulb with 90+ CRI. Professional adds a continuous 2200–6700 K bi-color range, 95+ CRI, remote control, and a touchscreen. The original preorder announcement has been replaced by this product history; it is not an offer to order.
