THE PRODUCT

Small light. A whole kit of possibilities.

Creator Edition is a useful starting point for a light you can set up, shape, and leave in place. Use it to add an eye light or separation in a compact interview, put a controlled highlight on a product, or light a desk, tabletop game, or workbench. Choose 3000 K, 4000 K, or 5000 K to suit the intended look. For close key or fill work, consider the working distance, ambient light, and size of the area you need to cover.

Put it to work.

Desk, tabletop, and small products

Use an eggcrate and retention ring for a compact arrangement, or add barn doors to trim spill away from the background. A tabletop stand or suitable arm makes placement part of the lighting decision.

An accent in an interview or small studio

Place a small fixture for a catchlight, hair or shoulder separation, or a patch of light behind the subject. Set the bulb to one of its three color temperatures and check the result through the camera.

A small kit that can change jobs

Choose regular doors for compactness, deep doors when you want clearance over a suitable grid, and a mount that joins the supports you already own. Use a compatible external power arrangement for the exact bulb and number of lights.

A FEW USEFUL DETAILS

Before you choose.

Do I have to choose a bulb color temperature?

No. The kit includes one bulb switchable between 3000 K, 4000 K, and 5000 K. The old separate daylight, tungsten, and two-bulb choices have been removed.

Regular or deep barn doors?

Regular doors make a compact setup. The deep design was developed to close over an attached eggcrate; check the selected grid and door combination.

Can I use an eggcrate without barn doors?

The existing range includes a retention ring for that compact configuration. See the eggcrate and retention-ring pages for the relationship.

When should I choose Professional instead?

Choose Professional when you want continuously adjustable 2200–6700 K color temperature, remote operation, and a touchscreen. Creator Edition suits setups where one of the three bulb settings works and you can reach the fixture to set it up. Read the edition guide for examples.

Is this a replacement for a large soft key light?

Choose a light around the shot. MiniCine is useful for compact setups and controlled accents; a small diffusion attachment does not produce the same source size as a large softbox. Consider distance, ambient light, and the area you need to cover.
